Tummy Time

Any suggestions for making tummy time more enjoyable? Will really does not like it. He lasts about 5 minutes and then erupts or lays there sucking on his hands until I turn him over. He can push up and roll to his side, but he gets so upset. I want to make it fun so I get out a bunch of toys, but he really isn't interested.

campbell never cared much for tummy time, probably because of the acid reflux. therefore he sat up at 4 months. and he still crawled at 8 months, so i wouldn't stress about it. some babies just like it more than others.

man, ethan hated it too. hated it - cried the whole time. after a while, i just stopped forcing it. i would still do it & recommend you do just a little bit, but just don't stress about how much you do it. now, he likes sleeping on his tummy, so i know it was really about being unable to be in control when he was on his stomach.

I haven't met a baby yet that "enjoyed" tummy time. Sophie hated it!! They look so awkward that after about 5 minutes you feel sorry for them and want to turn them over!! Don't stress out over it, he'll still crawl and walk when he is ready!!! :)

William hated tummy time also. He would scream and cry like we had just beat him anytime we would put him on his belly at all. I did small like 1 min intervals during the day of course as soon as he could roll tummy time was over. We would lay him down and he would flip over then start propelling himself across the room on his back as if he was running from us! If you figure anything out, let me know for next time.

Abby hated it. Beau would tolerate it for a few minutes. I think the main thing with that is keeping them off of the back of their head ALL of the time so they won't get a flat head (which, ironically, Beau had a little bit even though he was the one who didn't mind tummy time as much...go figure). He is getting bigger every day- such a cute little Michael! Love ya!

I'll have to agree with everyone else!!! Everyone says "tummy time" as much as possible, but I felt like it was strictly "child abuse"!! He did not like it at all!! I tried to leave it up to the day care and "assume" that he got enough, however, do put him there enough to get mad enough to know that he can roll over and get himself out of there. Along w/ DeeDee, you do want to keep him off the back of his head as much as you can. Connor also wound up w/ a flat head so the doc told us to turn him on his side when he sleeps, and it got better. Sooooooooo, don't stress over tummy time!!
